The pricing of US oxo-alcohol
was variable on the week of July 21 due to a lack in market activity and buyers
waiting for further price drops. Normal butanol export prices dropped $20-25 this
week to $2,045-2,055/mt FOB USG. This is based on levels discussed between
$2,000-2,040/mt & $2,100-2,140/mt and takes into account the $30 drop in
the CFR China marker. The domestic side saw NBA prices remain steady
at 115c/lb week-, based upon domestic pricing that was last discussed at this
level. In mid-July, a source stated that the demand for
NBA was higher than for 2-ethyl hexanol. 2-EH
exports have increased despite stronger pricing indicators and a rise in the
