Spot falls to 99 cents/gal FOB USG Exports
rise 69% on year



The US methanol spot
market price fell 9 cents in the week ending May 6, to a record low of over one
year. May spot methanol prices dropped 9 cents to 99c/gal FOB
USAG. This was based upon a May methanol offering heard at 100c/gal FOB ITC. June spot methanol prices fell 10 cents to 100c/gal FOB
USAG, maintaining the market structure. On
the week, the market structure changed from a 2-cent contango into a 1-cent
contango. The prompt methanol price was
99c/gal FOB USAG. The last price
assessment was made on November 17, 2020, at 96c/gal FOB USAG. According to market sources, oversupply could be a reason
for the steady fall in US spot methanol prices. A source stated that plants are performing better...
