Spot acrylonitrile prices in the US fell
this week amid concerns about US ACN prices hovering around the $1,600-1,630/mt
mark and tracking declines in the CIF/ARA and CFR South Asia markets. Spot ACN prices in the US were $170-190/mt lower
this week, at $1,680-1,700/mt FOB USGC. This is the lowest price in six months. The spot
ACN price was $1,500-1,530/mt on Jan. 12. "Overall,
[US] demand remains steady. A trader stated that he does not see
the "recession" as a result of [ACN] orders. According
to the source, current USGC prices are "dynamic" because ABS, which
is a major use for acrylonitrile in its production, is currently experiencing
