Due to the global length of the ACN market, the US spot acrylonitrile price fell this week. The US spot ACN price was lower by $60-65/mt
during the week of July 12. This is due to drops in the CIF-ARA and CFR-FE Asia
markets, as well as last known indications. According
to one source, "pot prices are likely to fall below 1,900 once the
propylene contract settles." Domestic ACN contracts were stable
at 87.25 Cents/lb delivery on the week. This
assessment was based upon an industry-accepted formula that took into account
the June CGP settlement of 49.5c/lb and the June ammonia CP at $1,000-1,050/mt. Europe saw
a slowing market on the week, as buyers were still bearish despite the general
price drop of 49.5 cents/lb in June...
