Due to weaker spot cargoes buying interest
Nov. 14, there was little trade activity in the Asian market for benzene. FOB Korea's benzene price was $9.50/mt
$840.50/mt .The spread between FOB Korean benzene & styrene was approximately
$150-165/mt, but slightly higher for the December laycan in the East China
Market. Some styrene producers saw their run rates rise recently.
However, the spread between FOB Korea benzene and styrene on a CFR basis was a
little lower than $150-170/mt but slightly higher for December laycan inb>
/b>the East China market. A company report indicated that
the 2 aromatics complex will be closed for around 37 days from mid-July
through mid-August 2023. The complex can produce 765,000
mt/year paraxylene, 395,000 mg/year benzene, and 20,000 mg/year
orthoxylene.
