- Spot Activity muted- Some participants close
operations early for holidays

The availability of plenty of imported
material during the week leading up to December 7 was due to the European
linear low-density polyethylene market. The European LLDPE spot market was quiet with all
participants sticking to their contracts. A trader
said that many customers had told him they wouldn't buy anything spot on
December. European LLDPE demand is weak. Buyers are
reluctant to buy even at lower prices. Sources said
that the supply of European LLDPE C6 was less than C4, and sellers were
unwilling to sell these grades at lower prices. Due to low
trading activity, some market participants anticipate that they will close
operations before Christmas and will be on holiday during the week beginning
Dec. 12.
