As a result of continued
pressure from downstream demand, Asia's acrylonitrile marker fell week-on-week on July 26. As they
sought to reduce their margins in the face of a glut of ACN production and the weak
downstream demand, many ACN producers in Northeast Asia further cut their run
rates. A producer in Northeast Asia said that many
producers had to reduce their rates further to stop the bleeding. He also noted
that weak downstream demand meant that buyers continue to avoid imports. The producer
said that although acrylic fiber is still acceptable, ABS demand is very bad. South
