Sources said that the Asian ethylene market
was stable on Nov. 23 because pot price discussions were restricted due to
lower steam cracker operations. Sources
Commodity Insights has revealed that Asia's steam cracker operations remain
below 100% despite negative olefins margins (notably ethylene) since the start
of 2022. This has led to a subdued supply. The CFR Japan naphtha was down $6-7/mt on Nov. 23 at $703.50-723.85/mt. The price spread between naphtha and ethylene was $176.50/mt
Nov. 23, which is lower than the $300-$350 breakeven spread. According to a source familiar with the matter, South
Korea's LG Chem will close its 230,000 mt/year LPG Cracker in December because
