The week ended Dec. 14 saw an increase in
export prices for China PET markets by $15-20/mt as some restocking
requirements supported the battered PET market. According to market sources, operating rates for
PET chips in bottles were cut to 76% in China. According to
a northeast Asian producer, the PET market in China has been increasing since
many plants closed or have reduced their run rate. A seller in
NE Asia said that supply is tighter after many plants have closed. "We are
now seeing a stronger market." Other
sellers said that PET imports were being picked up by most buyers despite
China's recent relaxations to COVID-19. The producer
said that everyone is watching to see what the market is doing before...
