Asian
isomer-grade mixed xylene continued to rise steadily day after day. It was up
$35/mt-$45/mt @ $1,166/mt FOB Korea and up $25/mt-$35/mt AT $1,166/mt-$1,175/mt
CFR Taiwan. It was also up $10/mt-$20/mt to $1,051/mt-$1,060/mt China on May
11. Market sentiment remained bullish despite arbitrage opportunities and
strong gasoline margins. Because of the strong gasoline prices and high MX prices in
Northeast Asia, traders were keen to ship Isomer-MX to the US. On May 10, the FOB US Gulf MX price for May and June loading
was 481 cents per gallon or $1,462.24/mt- $1,470.35/mt. This is well above
Asian prices. Due to limited supply and
strong demand, spot prices for US Gulf Coast mixed xylenes and nitration grade
toluene remained...
