xylenes (or MX) saw lower prices across all markets week-on-week Dec. 9. The crude and naphtha markets fell significantly
week-on-week. February Brent crude futures were down $10.31/b at $76.22/b Dec.
9. C&F Japan's naphtha marker was down $47.50/mt at $622.50/mt. The price of
Isomer mixedxylenes, which can compete with solvent MX, was down $14/mt FOB
Korea. Prices in the solvent market for MX were
affected by the fall in downstream and other competitive markets. Low demand
in Asia and high inventories also contributed to the fall of prices. According to
