SM up $15-18/mt Crude, naphtha tumble  



Asian benzene prices rose
$1-2/mt on April 20, at $1,150-1,180/mt FOB Korea. This was due to firmness in
downstream Styrene Monomer. SM rose $15-20/mt at
$1,320-1,350/mt CFR China on April 20. A trader said that arbitrage to the US might open up in the near future. This also lends
some sentimental support to Asian benzene markets. Upstream markets saw a different trend with June ICE Brent
crude oils futures plummeting $4.26/b at $105-110/b at 0830 GMT. This led to
naphtha falling from $30-35/mt to $900-920/mt CFR Japan. CFR China benzene price also increased, while domestic
prices rose in China. On an import parity
basis, the domestic East China marker was valued at Yuan 70-90/mt. This is
equivalent to $1,146,000-1,146,100/mt. A
trader stated that CFR China was being negotiated at FOB...
