Asian benzene prices $16-31/mt more since
Sept. 2, at $916.67-925.50/mt FOB Korea marker September 5. Physical discussions took place in the FOB
Korean market, with the last bid heard at $917-925/mt for FOB Korea marker
Sept. 5. Sources indicated that benzene prices were
supported mainly by firm downstream prices of styrene monomers, while the CFR
China bid at October WMOPK was heard plus $33-38/mt to accommodate October
arrivals. The SM price downstream was $26-30/mt higher
than Sep. 2, at $1,124-1,140/mt CFR China Sep. 5. According to
data from Japan Customs Department, Japan's July benzene export volume was
33,023 mt. This is an 11.5% increase and 3.8% respectively. Upstream,
Naphtha's C+F Japan fell $4-5/mt to $666-680/mt Sept.
