ComplexSpot ethylene dichloride prices in the USA
were unchanged for the week of August 2. This was based on stable pricing
indicators and last-known deals at $500/mt FOB USG. Prices were estimated at
$495-505/mt FOB. According to a market
source, EDC prices are expected to fall in tandem with lower downstream vinyl
chloride monomer prices and polyvinylchloride prices. This is because rising
interest rates have cooled the housing construction demand. This price weakness could extend upstream to chlorine.
However, strong demand for caustic soda could encourage producers to keep
robust Chlor-alkali rates while seeking to increase export EDC sales. A source claimed that most PVC suppliers want to dump
