US June DDP benzene rose 20% to 701
cents/gal, on June 16, amid a recovery in upstream energy and ongoing restarts
for derivative production. Sources
said that MDI and derivative styrene production restarts continue to pull feedstock benzene from a market already tight on spot volume. One source stated that liquidity for benzene was still low
on the day as the market digested recent liquidity at 700 cents per gall
earlier in the week. Participants
continued to speculate about where the July contract for benzene might settle.
The 10-day trade window to inform this contract opened slightly earlier on June
14, to accommodate a June 20 holiday. It
