Styrene was in high demand in northeast
Asia for August-loading cargoes, but volumes were low. Buyers in Southeast Asia
were not interested in August spot cargoes, as term contracts were adequate
despite weak downstream demand. Due to
weak downstream ABS demand and PS demand, China saw a low demand for styrene. In China, operating rates remained low despite expected
weaker demand in September. Operating rates
in northeast Asia were similar to China, where they were kept low by weak
demand. Due to low demand, producers in
