Asian spot styrene monomer prices were
evaluated at $10-15/mt at $1,338-1,370/mt CRC China marker. The China domestic
price was assessed at Yuan 65-80/mt at Yuan 10,550-10,700/mt Ex-Tank. This
equates to $1,367-1,400/mt based on import-parity on June 28. Given the strong export
market from China, sources expect higher USD cargo prices due to firmer
domestic prices. Although export talks
have slowed since June 27, traders expect that domestic export volume will
decrease the stock and increase supply. Sources
in trade indicated that one of the major producers in North China, Tianjin, achieved
on-spec SM from 450,000 mt/year new capacities. This may put pressure on the SM
price once it is commercially operational. On June 28, the SM production margin of non-integrated SM
producers was negative...
