Shipments eyed for the US for April  April benzene-naphtha spread widens  



Due to softer Northeast
Asia buying interest, activity in the Asian market for benzene remained low on March 31. A May-loading cargo was offered at $1,135-1,155/mt FOB Korea
in the mid-morning. No trades were made throughout the day. FOB Korea benzene price fell from $10-15/mt per day to $1,135-1,175/mt. According to estimates by some sources, around 50,000 mt of
the benzene could be scheduled for shipment to the US in April. This is roughly
the equivalent of two medium-range tankers. This trend was a continuation of the March laycan. However, the trend was not a sign that China's purchasing
appetite has decreased. A few floating
basis bids were made for May arrival CFR China basis at plus $30-35/mt to May
weekly Mean of Korea...
