East-West naphtha spreads -- the difference
between CFR Japan cargo Swaps and the CIF NWE equivalent -- dropped sharply in
Europe on Nov. 29, reflecting a decline in Asian prices. January spread fell
$4.75/mt at $21.50/mt. While cargoes
normally go to Northwest Europe from Latvia, they were heading towards
Asia. According to Kpler, 86,000 mt of
naphtha from Latvia were expected to leave Ventspils in December for Unv1.
However, they were moving towards Asia. The
December/January CIF naphtha swap spread was valued atb> /b>$2.75/mt.
This was down $1-2/mt. January/February was assessed at $4.75/mt. This was down
25b>cents/mt. The spread of the
December/January CIF naphtha Swap was at $2.75-3.80/mt. This was down $1-2/mt. cents/mt. The
December crack spread was at minus $13.50/b.
