Sources said that the East-West naphtha
spreads -- the difference between CFR Japan cargo swaps or the equivalent CIF
NWE -- dropped sharply in Europe on the same day. This was due to a decline in
Asian prices, which was reported by sources Nov. 29. The December spread fell $6.75/mt to $28.50/mt.
January's spread was lower at $21.50-2670/mt. The
arbitrage between the Mediterranean and Northwest Europe buyers to East of Suez
sellers remained open. One trader stated that they do not believe the
Asian market is as bad as some people think. Russian
naphtha continues to find new markets ahead of the EU phase out, with Latvia
being the latest hub. According to Kpler shipping data, November saw
105,000 mt of exports...
