As the Japanese and South
Korean market participants were on holiday, the propylene market in Asia was
steady on May 6. The July ICE Brent crude oil futures rose
$1.31/b, to $111.72/b by 0830 GMT Asian close on May 6. However, this did not
attract any demand for propylene. A buyer
from Northeast Asia stated that the Chinese buyers had just returned from
holiday yesterday while Japanese and Korean sellers were on holiday. This makes
trading very quiet this week. China
Shandong prices rose from Yuan 50-75/mt to Yuan 8,750-8,850/mt, as restocking began
after the Labour Day holiday. According to a
source, China's Nanjing Chengzhi Clean Energy Company will shut down its
