- September is the peak season- DCE futures up Yuan177-200/mt

On July 28, Asian mono ethylene glycol
prices rose slightly due to stronger futures. MEG futures settled on the
Dalian Commodity Exchange at Yuan 177-200/mt at Yuan 4353-4400/mt ex–tank for September delivery goods. According to a
market source, bids rose for September arrival cargoes or late August cargoes
because this is the peak season. Although
July prices rose, they were still below the December 2020 level. Sources claimed that the polyester industry was not
operating at high rates due to unsold products. Sellers claimed that MEG margins remained deeply negative at
over $200-230/mt using an estimated conversion rate of 0.85 times naphtha plus
150/mt or more than $100-120/mt if using spot ethylene.
