at the FOB US Gulf Coast at 344c/gal on Sept. 2, 20c less week on week. Due to the recent rise in
Chinese styrene manufacturing, the downstream market for US styrene has
declined. Sources claimed that downstream
demand for styrene was low due to the expectation of lower production. According to market sources, the squeeze on exports could
lead to production rate cuts or shutdowns. In addition to the drop in demand for US styrene exports,
the price of benzene has fallen due to a chemical process called Selective
