Decline in Asian butadiene continued Nov.
3, with a $20 per day drop to reach a new 10-month low at $760-$780/mt CFR
China. The market
sentiment was bearish as spot buying continued to be limited by lower
downstream plant operations. However,
market sources indicated that there was still room for Asian naphtha prices to
fall, given the narrow spread between naphtha and butadiene. CFR Japan naphtha was $1-$2/mt lower on Nov. 3 at $689-$710/mt. The spread in naphtha and butadiene was $71-$76/mt on Nov.
3, a $19 decrease from the previous day. This
spread is also the narrowest since March 3, when it was at minus 2.125/mt. Market sources indicated that Asian butadiene will not
rebound due to China's poor economic outlook...
