Asian butadiene was rated stable on Aug. 22, compared to Aug. 19. The abundance of butadiene
in China means that market sentiment will remain bearish for the week ending Aug.
22. Although steam cracker operations in
Asia will remain low in September, butadiene supplies will likely be plentiful
due to the opening of new butadiene factories in China. Spot buying appetite was low for September, as Asian
end-users such as South Korea were able to meet their needs. CFR Japan naphtha dropped $9.75-10.50/mt to $679.50-990.50/mt
in the upstream market on Aug. 19. S&P
