The European linear low-density
polyethylene market activity was slower in the week ended Aug. 31 as market
participants waited for the September upstream ethylene contract price to give
them a clearer direction for LLDPE pricing. Market sources continued to await the settlement
of the September European contract price. An agreement was reached in late August
31. A converter stated that spot [ethylene] was
below Eur900/mt and the contract level is at Eur1,425/mt. This means there is a
huge problem with ethylene. We need to fix this in order to make the polymer
