India R-PET: Domestic prices fall amid weak offtake, thin trade discussions / Most domestic recyclers stocked up on PET flakes / Participants seeking clarity over FSSAI certification

Premium bottle-grade flakes at $815/mt FOB India Nov. 19, for flakes containing less than 30 ppm, stable week over week, while R-PET food-grade pellets with a minimum intrinsic viscosity of 0.8 were at $1,135/mt FOB India, also unchanged week over week, and at Rupee 100/kg ex-works India, down Rupees 3/kg. The FOB India prices remained stable amid subdued domestic offtake as well as weak export demand, market participants said. The stability in the prices of bottle-grade flakes was despite an upward pressure on feedstock bottle bale prices, which were heard upward of Rupees 44-46/kg in west India markets. “Bales prices are tighter due to lower waste collection during the winters,” an India-based flakes buyer said, adding, however, that most recyclers had enough stock of bottle-grade flakes currently.
