On June 25, despite a lack of trading, the price of Asian recycled high-density polyethylene natural film was stable at $745/mt FOM Southeast Asia. Asian industry observers have noted that the EU Single-Use Plastics Directive's requirement of 25% recycled content for packaging has not driven global demand as much as expected. Most Asian traders targeted recycling for European converters. It was estimated that the average recycled content of packaging ranged between 20% and 25%, but uncertainty over how penalties and targets would be implemented has eroded trust in its actual impact.
