Asian RecycledHDPE: Stable amid thin Trade / Applications running at 70% due to lack of materials / Weak Vietnamese currency discourages imports

Due to a lack of trade, the price of Asian recycled high-density polyethylene natural film in Asia has remained stable at $740/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia on May 7. Consistency of high-quality feedstock is still a problem. Sources said that a reduction in feedstock led to fewer bales being exported to Asia. US tariffs also resulted to a 40% drop in the availability of bales on the US East Coast. The traders said that the import of scrap materials into Southeast Asia has been restricted. Thailand and Vietnam have tightened their import controls while Malaysia conducts intensive inspections for almost all containers arriving to be recycled.
