Discussions have led to a $20/mt increase in Asian recycled high density polyethylene natural film at $750/mt, FOB Southeast Asia on May 28. Market sources reported that scrap plastics are still scarce, particularly in Thailand and Vietnam. Import restrictions have forced recyclers who rely on imported materials to close their doors. Brand owners clarified that their commitment was to reduce prime resin by 50% by 2030. They did not commit to replacing prime resin with 50% recycled content. It added that the brand owner can achieve a reduction through lightening products. The targets are global and not equally distributed between continents.
