In the midst of the current discussions, the Asian recycled low density polyethylene market increased day-over-day but remained stable week-over week at $800/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia on 24 April. Southeast Asian buyers are reluctant to trade due to the appreciation of US dollars against most Southeast Asian currencies. They cite high costs. Traders reported that some selling interest had been registered but there were no buyers. Recycled LDPE faces challenges because it is often encased in a multilayer of film that makes it difficult to recycle. The current low price of virgin materials made recycling less attractive.
