Asia recycled polyethylene: markets fall due to low demand / Slow business during Ramadan / Limited Enforcement of EPR Recycling Rules - Mar 29, 2025

Sources said that the Asian recycled low density polyethylene market fell in the week ending March 26. Southeast Asia was experiencing a slowdown because of Ramadan. Asian recycled LDPE film pellets were stable from day to day, but $10/mt lower week-over-week at $780/mt FOS Southeast Asia on 26 March. There has been little or no enforcement of the extended producer responsibility regulations. Vietnam, India and Thailand are developing drafts of such rules. Market sources, however, said that most Asian countries had limited enforcement. Analysts estimate that the demand for recycled LDPE in Asia in 2025 will be lower than 1 million mt/year, a similar level to what it was in 2024.
