Asian Recycled Pet: Prices stable despite thin trading / Slow demand due Ramadan / Mixed blue flakes 20- 40 $/mt less expensive than clear

In the week ended March 26, Asian prices for recycled polyethylene Terephthalate were either stable or slightly higher, despite the prevailing discussion. In Southeast Asia the lack of recycling mandates, and the slowdown in business during Ramadan has contributed to the slowdown on the market. R-PET clear flake FOB Southeast Asia stable from day to day, but up $10/mt in the last week. $910/mt was recorded on March 26. According to sources, mixed blue flakes are more readily available and priced between $20-$40/mt less than clear flakes. Sources said that Malaysia had the cheapest bales followed by Indonesia, Thailand and Thailand. The buyers said that sourcing occurs on a quarterly schedule.
