The price of Asian recycled polyethylene Terephthalate fell in the week ending April 9, due to a weakening demand. FOB Southeast Asia RPET clear flakes down $10/mt from the previous week to $900/mt. Prices fell due to the confusion and caution in the market. This is mainly because of the recent developments regarding the US tariffs. Recycling sources noted that the new tariff regime introduced in the US had led to a cautious attitude among recyclers. Many traders are seeking clarification on which Harmonized System Codes for exports to US may be exempted from these tariffs.
