low buying interest. Due
to a slowing global economy, export volumes were reported as being low across
the region. A trader said that
"Sentiment was weak, demand outlook uncertain, while there are cheap
Virgin PET" and noted that global economic uncertainty is driving up
demand for recycled PET. The high energy
costs have also hurt the demand for recycled PET. "The European Union and the US now prefer to buy
resins/flakes rather than producing bottles from PET, likely because of the
high cost of energy and winter approaching. A producer from Southeast Asia said that hot wash costs will
