Asia recycled LDPE : Stable amid thin market / Many recyclers are facing liquidity issues / Brand owners' consumption is limited

On May 21, the Asian recycled low density Polyethylene was unchanged from day to day at $770/mt F.O.B. Southeast Asia, amid a weak demand caused by low prices of prime polymers. Sources said that the reduced prices for virgin polymers and US tariff policies continued to affect recycled pellets. Traders said that most feedstocks or scrap materials were unable to reduce their prices in order to meet the expectations of recyclers. Due to cancellations of orders, high production costs and low output, as well as reduced prices by downstream customers, many recyclers were facing liquidity issues. Sources said that despite some tariffs having been paused by the end of April, ongoing tensions in trade continue to affect investor confidence, economic forecasts and demand.
