Asian Recycled HPPE: Stable in thin trading- Certified recycled pellets are available at twice the
prime polymer prices- Expected chemical recycling to begin in 2025Prices of Asian high density recycled
polyethylene were stable during the week ending February 8. Sources claimed that
recycled polymers meeting European standards such as ISCC and GRS were selling
at twice the price of prime polymers due to increased demand following EU
legislation. Since January 2022, the EU
legislation has imposed a Eur800/mt duty on all non-recycled plastic. It also
targets 77% bottle collection of polyethylene terephthalate bottles by 2025,
and at least 25% recycled PET in PET containers by 2025. Sources claim that the European policy initiatives could
increase plastic recycling to 30% by 2030 from just 14% at the moment. A trajectory towards 30% recycling by 2030...
