Asian recycled high-density polyethylene natural film pellets stable to slightly soft week over week at $745/ mt FOB Southeast Asia on July 2, amid thin trading activity and weak demand. Material with GRS certification was heard to be priced 20%- 30% higher, at over $900/mt FOB Southeast Asia for recycled HDPE and above $1,000/mt FOB Southeast Asia for recycled LDPE. In comparison, current virgin prices were in the mid to high $800s/mt CFR China for HDPE and around $1,000/mt CFR China for LDPE. As a result, most brand owners preferred to use virgin material instead, they said, as costs as compared to using recycled material with certification was cheaper.
