Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene rose $25-30/mt
to $1,250-1,290/mt FOB Korea, and $1,205-1,250/mt CRU Unv1 July 4, as strong
demand emerged for August cargoes after a bearish week. The paraxylene MX spread narrowed to $11.25-16.50/mt,
to minus 15.92-20.50/mt, as PX rose $13.75-18.25/mt during the same period, to
$1,234-1,260/mt CFR Unv1/China. The margins for producers of PX based
on their production cost on MX are at the lowest levels since Insights began
assessing isomer -MX in 2006. June 1, 2006, saw the first negative
assessment of the PX-MX. The record low was June 10, at minus $30.50-35.25/mt. Statistics
news revealed that Japan exported 89.414 mt isomer-MX in May. This was 29.3%
