linkage with chemical fundamentals





Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene prices
dropped $69-75/mt between July 8 and $1,076-1,100/mt FOB Korea. They were down
$64-70/mt $1,036-1,050/mt CRU Unv1 and down $20-25/mt $1,030-1,050/mt CRU China
July 12. Offers for H2 August loading cargoes were made lower throughout the
day. According to traders,
gasoline-related demand is decreasing amid shrinking gasoline cracks, and
weakening arbitrage demands from the US. MX pricing was moving more towards a
chemical linkage. MX prices would eventually need to be priced well under
paraxylene to encourage demand. A trader stated that FOB should be
determined on CFR China, minus high freight costs and minus a significant
