Asian isomer-grade mixed xylene rose $7-8/mt
on the day to $1,257-1,300/mt FOB Korea and $1,212-1,250/mt CRU Unv1. It was up
$5-6/mt to $1,090-1,120/mt China July 5, on the back of rising crude oil and
increased demand for August MX cargoes. The outlook for MX, the demand for gasoline blending, and
the possible duration of strength in MX markets and gasoline markets were all
viewed differently by market participants. The petroleum side will determine the current situation. "If it continues to tighten, this MX marketplace will
last further," a South Korean producer stated. He was referring
specifically to MX, which has recently risen above paraxylene costs in Asia and
elsewhere. PX increased $13.17-18.25/mt to
$1,247-1,280/mt CFR China on July 5 but spread to MX FOB...
