Asian isomer-grade mixed xylenes dropped
$19/mt on the day to $1003/mt FOB Korea, and $998/mt CFR unv1 Aug. 25,
following the emergence of FOB Korea cargo buyers as gasoline cracks shrank.
Paraxylene margins also worsened earlier this week. Prices remained unchanged
at $972.50/mt CFR China on August 25. The PX
fell $6/mt on the day to $1.089.33/mt CFR Unv1/China on Aug. 25, which resulted in
the PX/MX spread widening to $13/mt at $86.33/mt. Sources said that East China's inventory fell below 20,000
mt because of lower imports. According to
a Chinese trader, imports are unlikely to pick up quickly with September
domestic prices at $960/mt CFR China. China's
Sinopec Hainan Petrochemical will close its 600,000 mt/year No.1 Paraxylene
