Asian paraxylene rose midweek due to
rallies downstream. It rose $2-3/mt but fell $58.92-64.50/mt over the week to
$1.040-2.500/mt CFR unv1/China and $1.020-2.250/mt FOB Korea on July 20. The spread between paraxylene & naphtha
increased by $7.25-8.50/mt to $270.08-290.59/mt due to the decline in feedstock
naphtha. The trend in the paraxylene/naphtha spread fell
by $41.42-46.50/mt over the week. This was due to weakening gasoline demand. A trading
source stated that bullish sentiment in the market declined as participants
chose to be cautious amid the general downtrend. This led to slower trading
activity in the market. China's Ningbo Zhongjin is a
subsidiary of Rongsheng Petrochemical Co. Ltd. It has plans for maintenance at
its aromatics plants in the early part of August,...
