Asian PVC: FOB China PVC Prices Fall to Historic Low / SE Asian markets quiet amid tariff-linked uncertainties / China domestic prices are soaring amid tightened supply

The week ending April 23 saw Asian PVC prices remain stable or soft. Chinese export prices fell to new lows while China's domestic prices fluctuated due to fluctuations in futures contracts and plant turnarounds. CFR China PVC was down $5/mt from the previous week to $695/mt on April 23. This is in line with tradeable indications at $690-$700/mt, and lower than ex-Japan or ex-Taiwan prices of $700/mt. China's ethylene-based PVC remained unchanged at Yuan 5,050/mt on April 23 compared to the previous week, while China's carbide-based PVC fell Yuan 20/mt and reached 4,810/mt in the same time period. PVC production in China remains constrained, both for ethylene and carbide based products. Several plants are undergoing scheduled maintenance.
