Asian PVC: Weaker amid Market Uncertainty / Southeast Asia downstream Demand Uncertain / Cautious due to tariffs

The Asian PVC price ranged from stable to softer in the week ending April 9. This was due to falling upstream costs, and the cautious market sentiment resulting from recent US tariffs. CFR China PVC was unchanged at $695/mt on April 9 compared to the previous week, below sales indications of $700-$720/mt. China's ethylene-based PVC fell Yuan 50/mt from last week to Yuan 5,050/mt on April 9. China's carbide-based PVC dropped Yuan 135/mt in the same time period, at Yuan 4,790/mt. According to sources in the trade, Chinese PVC production tightened during the past week as a result of scheduled maintenance at multiple plants.
