Some VCM deals seen in SE AsiaChinese demand weak on sluggish
PVC marketsThe Asian EDC and VCM markets were quiet during the
week of April 7, as key players in Taiwan and China were on holiday April 5-6
because of the Qingming festival. Market participants waited for key
downstream PVC May-loading deals to be made before they could make any further
decisions. Negotiations for May have not started. VCM was purchased in
Southeast Asia. Buyers wanted to purchase H2 April-H1 May arrivals, as they
anticipated a rise in PVC demand following Ramadan. China saw a weaker
demand due to slow PVC markets. Many PVC producers wanted to export
cargo but the demand was too low.
