After announcements of August-loading
downstream Polyvinyl Chloride offers, some deals were made in Asian ethylene
dichloride markets and vinyl chloride monomer markets. Sources indicated that
there was some recovery in demand in China, as domestic PVC prices rebounded
during the week. Yuan 200-250/mt for
ethylene-based PVC rose week-on-week to Yuan 6,700-6,800/mt by July 28, while
Yuan 150-200/mt was paid for carbide-based PVC at Yuan 6,550-6,700/mt. As a result, feedstock offers were supported by buyers who
gained confidence from rising PVC prices and believed that they had reached
their bottom. VCM and EDC deals were
accepted, while spreads with PVC remained positive. According to some sellers, the demand for VCM and EDC was
