Asian PTA: Prices rise after prolonged losses- PTA Prices to Stabilize- Polyester yarn and fiber grade weakAsian purified Terephthalic Acid rose from $46-50/mt
in a week to $810-840/mt CFR China on Jul 22. Prices rebounded early in the week
and later in that week, following higher crude and PX oil prices. CFR Taiwan/China's PX indicator
rose $57.41-62.50/mt weekly to $1,078.33-1,100.50/mt July 22. China's domestic PTA price fluctuated throughout the week
due to volatility in crude oil prices. Overall,
domestic PTA rose Yuan 289-320/mt over the week to Yuan 5,863-5,950/mt
exp-warehouse. Sources said that there was
little trading activity, with no bids or trades being observed. Most spot
cargoes were held by major suppliers. A
trader stated that PTA prices are driven mainly by production costs because
there is little change in its demand and supply....
