The price of purified terephthalic acids fell sharply week-over-week as the market was affected by tariffs announced by Trump's administration. PTA FOB China was $614/mt in April 4, a decrease of $24/mt from the previous day. The average weekly price was $636.25/mt, down $5.55/mt from the previous week. On April 2, President Donald Trump announced a new international baseline duty tariff of 10% starting April 5 for nearly all import categories, and trading partners. Certain countries will be subject to even higher duties starting April 9. A number of countries have said they will respond by imposing their own tariffs on US products.
