rising prices of paraxylene, crude oil and purified terephthalic Acid CFR China
pushed the price up $8-10/mt per week. CFR Taiwan/China
paraxylene prices rose $10-15/ mt on week. This is to be compared at
$1,197-1,230/mt May 6. Sources in China
reported a slight improvement of market sentiment following the bearishness
that was evident in previous weeks because of the COVID-19 epidemic. A market source said that the slight ease in transportation
has allowed producers to export their goods. The short week saw little market activity. Northeast Asia producers said that talks have been slow this
